Effects boxed in Hammond 1590A Enclosure

Copy Cat

A 3 pot delay effect in a 1590A eclusure is that possible? Yes of cause. This is my layout of the Tonpad Rebote Delay 2.5. Its a really well designed effect. It can sound like the echo in a basement like the sound in those poor blues recordings from the past. And if you max out the mix and repeat you have allmost endless repeats with a decay that makes it sound like a old tape echo.

Little Read Rooster Tremolo

This is a tremolo that I have designed from the EH tremolo and some other LFO:s. The LED is a two collor common catode so when the effect is bypassed it flashes red in LFO tempo and when its on the LED flashes green. Its a dead simple circut but it workes for standard setups and swamp sound together with an overdrive.

Pink Noise

Pink Nois or 1/ƒ as some would call it is a Fuller mod Fuzz Face, schematics from R.G. The Technology of the Fuzz Face.
I don’t like the sound of a Fuzz. Why build it then? A friend of mine gave me tree NOS Valvo AC128 and as a stomp box builder it would equal with treason not to use them. He worked as a developer at Ericsson and found them in the scrap bin, along with other vintage stuff, when his department was moving. He asked people that had worked there since the 60: s and they sad that they probably were from back then. Two were 90 and 93 hFe and low leakage. Since it’s a PNP and positive ground I had to incorporate batteries in the enclosure so the little black package you see is 3x3V lithium cells 75 mAh each. It actually produces 12.6V together, don’t ask me why, Its a little too much for this but whatever. As I won’t use this much and a fuzz is cheap on battery it will last forever.

Never Mind

Never Mind is a John Hollis Zombie Chorus shrunken to fit in a smaller box. I am very pleased with the result. The sound is lush and spacey, very much like the Small Clone.  The only drawback is the price of the BBD Its almost 10€

Percussion

This is quite an odd type of effect. It’s a square wave form tremolo that sounds really weird when the speed is at min ant depth at max. Its like a morse signal or a kind of delay.

Percussion sounds like effect of the old Valco-designed amps of the 1960s. It ranges from subtle tremolos to a full-on machine gun staccato choppy sound.

Purple Haze

Can a Si Fuzz Face sound as good as a Ge one? IMO yes. The Porple Haze is a Fuzz Face kind of circuit with two 2N2222A Si transistors. Its very nice sounding.  Follow the sound link below to heare a shoot out between the Purple Haze SI Fuz Face and the  Pink Noise Ge Fuzz Face and judge for your self.
Recording conditions;
Beside an unforgivably bad guitar player they were;
Strat with Tex-Mex pickups in position 2 connected directly to first Pink then Purple and a spring reverb with 20% reverb then directly to an Orange Tiny Terror amp (Vol on 11 Gain on 10 tone max) Speaker cab is a 1X12 Celestion Vintage 30 and then in to a SM57 Chinese clone and to a mixer and sound card. No other effects or post production.

About the recording
Everything is recorded twice exept the first clean part. Always first is the Pink Ge then (almost) the same thing with the Purple Si. The gain setting is the same for both. First MIN then 12 then MAX. The Vol is on 3 for Ge and 12 for Si.
If I say so my self I can distinguish a slit difference at MIN where the Si is a tiny winy bit hasher then the Ge then its hard to tell them apart.

This is a crasy effect. It can sound just like like those old VIC 65 games and old arcade games. Mor info and sound samples coming soon.  All sondsaples are recorded with Fuzz OFF (except Fuzz on) The clean sound is better in IMO.

Q-Wha

When I think about Envelope Filters I think about funk. And when I think about funk the first thing that comes to my mind is Bootsy Collins and his Bootsy's Rubber Band and Parliament-Funkadelic together with George Clinton . This man is something extra. Both his music and his appearance leave no one untouched. This man IS groove impersonated. So I thought that pink would be an appropriate color for the Q-Wha  Envelope filter. It’s based on the ROG Nurse Quacky

Little Squeeser
This is the DOD 280 Compressor from Tone pad. The original PCB was so small I did not have to re make one to get it to fit in a 1590A box. I added a 10K trim put insted of the 4.7R
 to the LED and made my wwn LDR/LED in a shrink tube.  It workes fine.

Viper - Z

This is one is based on the Thor by runoffgroove.com. I hard wired the Bright switch allways on. In min gain this is a grate treble booster. I tryed to bake the clear coat in the owen to shorten the time. Id made the clear coat a bit yellow and shrinked the lable.  This is also the first one I have mounted the stomp switch, the LED,  and the bass switch directly on to the PCB. To get rid of a lot of hook up wires saves a lot of valuable space inside this small type of enclosures.

Small Talk

This is the same circut as tha Dragon Cave Overdrive or The Fulltone OCD. The only differens is that the Tone pot is removed and the HP/LP switch is hard wired to HP. I think that the to lose the tone pot is no big deal since you have a tone pot on youre guitar and that one is easy to reache when you play if needed.

The Mini Man

This is the Mini Man. A clean  overdrive with distortion if needed. I am proud to present my first own design, The Mini Man. Well it is not entirely true. I have borrowed and stolen ides but hey, that is what everyone else does. Never the less I am so proud to present it anyway. This is a versatile overdrive with a MOSFET and standard clipping section. The clipping section can be turned off and then you have a clean boost. As small as it is it produces a fat and riche sound with lots of overtones. And it fits in your smoking pocket. Never leave home without it.
Do you want to know how it was made.
Se for your self
