Envelope Filter (MXR
Clone)
If you want funk, play funk. This pedal will
definitely help you on the road to sound like
Bootsy Collins or
George Clintons
Parliament-Funkadelic. Although it has a little
distorted high end it has a really cool sound
to it and it is hard
not to get funky as soon
as you stomp on the ON button. The bother
button is a reversed TOY sound insted of a Wha
witch gives it an
even wider range of varied
possibilities. I also made one to a
friend of
mine. In that I added the filter range mod after
fiddeling with different caps. It really payd
off so I recomend you
to add this mod.
!Caution! All manufactures of IC for this one does not
work. Be aware and read the build
reports on

QUACK (Nurce Quacky)
This one does the same as the MXR Envelope Filter but lacks
the "Toy" button. It is a much simpler
circuit. When I tested it I
thought that the
high pitch was to pronaunced and a bit distorted so
I added a on-off-on switch to change the
filtering range. The left
position addes a
10nF cap in paralell to each of the 4,7nF filter
caps. The right position adds 22nFcaps and the
middle position is
stock. This way I can get a
bassier sound without the real high
pitch. If
you have limited experiens of building effects I recommend
this in to the MXR because the easy build and
the small difference
in sound. Alltough the
MXR is more tweakable and
versitale.

Smells Like A Chorus
(EH Small Clone)
This is a really great
chorus and a "must build". The roamer has it
that this is the chorus
effect that Curt
Cobain used on the Never mind album (think of
Smells like teen spirit). Because of this an
original effect is
highly sought after and
sells for astronomical prices. Reissues are
known to be inferior in construction. I have
made some suggested
mods. The most revarding
one is is the speed mod where you replace
the
39k between the lfo and the CD4047 with a 4.7k resistor in
series with a 100k linear pot. Add a LED from
pin 1 of the LM358 in
series with a 390R to
get a status LED that flashes to the LFO
speed. On max speed, you can get it to sound
like a Leslie or a
rotart speaker. Build this
you want regret it.

Good
Vibes (Univibe
clone)
Some effects has a mystical
vibe to there name and stand out as the
reincarnation of the late
60:s. The Fuzz Face
is one of them and the Univibe is another. The
Fuzz Face is an easy build, as soon as you
have got youre hands on
the right mojo Ge
transistors that is, the univibe has much more to
it. The original circuitry is fairly advanced.
The mojo here is all
around combination of 4
LDR:s and one light bulb in a sealed
compartment. Get the right light bulb or you
have failed according
to Fulltone (I really
doubt this). This circuitry solves this issue
with 4 LED:s coupled to the LDR:s and an
OP-amps instead of all
transistors. Geniusly
done and with the same cind of sound result.
You can actualy dial in the MXR 45 sound on
this one. Allso check
out R.G:s ramp up /down
speed to slowly change between two preeset
speeds. Really cool mod. It is also usable for
other LDR/LED based
LFO circuts.

Captain America (MXR Phase
90)
This is the Tonepad version of the MXR Phase 90
original below. Its 90% true to the original
in sound but lacks a
little bit of ssswoschhhh
in the middle. As you can see on the
inside
picture I made the depth mod but mounted the pot inside. I
wanted a clean one knob design. The switch is
for the script mod.
(omit the 22K feedback
resistor). The LED is a read and bright and
the anode side is connected to the speed pot
lug-1 witch means that
its flashing at LFO
speed.

MXR
Phase 90
This is one of four commercial effects that I own and
have decided to keep even tough I have have
built a clone. Soundvise
my clone comes really
close but lacks the final touch. I have done
the script mod; on this one
and it sounds
great.

MXR Phase
45
This is the 90:s little
sister. But I would like to upgrade this one
to THE ONE to use. It
has a marvelous swirling
sound in just the right proportions. And
this
one is a genuine script model from early 70:s. (people I trust
say that it is from 74). I bought this dead
cheap on the net. It
already had two holes
from an earlier attempt to add external power
to it. I added a yellow dim LED, true bypass
and a 9V in jack. Most
collectors would
probably faint when they hear this but I do not
collect those effects. I use them. This is the
"Dark Side Of The
Moon" sound in a box. Se my
shrinked copy of this one as well.
really cool
in my upinion.
